CLASSES

Students at workClasses are held in a fully equipped professional workshop, with purpose built benches. All equipment and tooling is of excellent quality and well maintained.

Please note, whilst there is no upper age limit, our classes are not suitable for children. Over 18s only please.

Class sizes
We teach a maximum of six students per class as we strongly believe this is the optimum student to tutor ratio. Within this framework we work on a one-to-one basis, enabling each student to pursue their own goals, at their own pace.

Class Outline
Students of all levels are guided through health and safety protocols at all stages.

Student at workThose new to jewellery making (who are always very welcome) are taught the basic but essential skills including measuring, marking, piercing, filing etc. The more experienced students are actively encouraged to develop their design and making skills, and classes at this level are student lead.

Free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits are always available (and indeed essential to becoming a real jeweller!!!).

When
Day, evening and weekend classes are available throughout the week - please see the page on 'Availability'. Class duration: 2 hours. Classes run all year round.

Cost
Classes are £7.50 per hour( £15 per session). Consumables and materials are additional.

Additional benefits
Hallmarking - York School of Jewellery holds its own registered mark for the use of students. All gold, silver and platinum pieces made by the students may be hallmarked without the substantial cost of applying for individual makers marks.
